10:00-Noon Morning Workshop
Noon-1:30 Lunch
1:30-3:30 Afternoon Workshop

The morning workshop covers the basics. The many kinds of point of view. Where does POV live in the text? How does the author fall into POV naturally?

The afternoon workshop moves on to look at the Big Four of building a POV.
* Voice — How do we make the character sound like himself?
* Focus — POV that comes from the relationship between the character and the created world.
* Position — When POV is created by the character’s physical setting.
* Expression — Language tricks that keep the reader in POV.

The emphasis will be on specific techniques and practical, hands-on advice for the working writer.Joanna Bourne

Joanna Bourne lives in the foothills of the Blue Ridge with her family, a medium-sized mutt and a faux Himalayan cat. She writes Historical Romances set in England and France during the Napoleonic Wars. She’s fascinated by that time and place – such passionate conviction and burning idealism … and really sexy clothes.
