“How to Launch Nine Books in Eight Months, or the Do’s and Don’ts of Marketing a Winning Series”

What’s the greatest writing challenge you’ve set yourself? Mindy Klasky decided to publish nine books in eight months. In this two-hour session, she’ll explain how she chose her sub-genre, her writing process as she juggles so many different stories, her promotion and publicity goals as she markets those novels, and how you can adapt her strategies to create your own winning books. Whether you’re working on a single book, a limited series, or a monster multi-book extravaganza, Mindy’s presentations and handouts will move you down the road to writing success!

Afternoon Session:  2:00PM – 4:00PM
“A Hybrid Writer’s Life: New Tools for Finding, Building, and Exploiting Markets”

The winds of change are blowing – and they just might be a hurricane! As professional writers, we are hard-pressed to keep up with the changes in our industry – publishers merging, bookstores closing, traditional publishing contracts becoming harder and harder to secure. This two-hour session looks at three key ways that to jumpstart your professional writing career, harnessing those winds of change and turning them into harbingers of good fortune. We’ll focus on Advertising Services (e.g. Bookbub and Kindle Nation Daily–what are they, what do they charge, and how do they impact a book’s sales), Boxed Sets (how to create one, how to publicize one, and how to measure the career impact of a set), and a Publishing Co-operative (how to structure one, the advantages and disadvantages of working with a co-op).

MINDY KLASKY
Hybrid author Mindy Klasky (http://www.mindyklasky.com/) learned to read when her parents shoved a book in her hands and told her she could travel anywhere in the world through stories. She never forgot that advice. Mindy’s travels took her through multiple careers – from litigator to librarian to full-time writer.

Mindy’s travels have also taken her through various literary genres for readers of all ages – from traditional fantasy to paranormal chick-lit to category romance, from middle-grade to young adult to adult. In her spare time, Mindy knits, quilts, and tries to tame her endless to-be-read shelf. Her husband and cats do their best to fill the leftover minutes.
